07 Aug The Birth of Babar!
Hiya, my name is Betty and I’m here to keep you updated on all the gossip, scandals, triumphs and fun times that go down at Melbourne’s Babar Hair.
After finding a cute little space on Nicholson Street in Carlton North, we opened the salon back in October last year, but because my owner Chris is super busy changing people’s lives one strand at a time, I’ll be the one updating you with all the happenings at Babar Hair via this nifty blog.
Nowadays, nothing delights me more than sitting in the front window of Babar Hair in Carlton, watching the number 96 tram roll on by. Sometimes, some lovely clients let me sit in their laps while they wait for their hair colour to ‘cook’ under that magical, twirling, heated device that my owner won’t let me play with, and secretly, I’m a little freaked out by.
I’m often amazed at how our clients glide out of our salon on a golden cloud of awesomeness, ready to take on the world with that unique brand of confidence that can only come from rocking a beyond-fabulous new hair cut or colour.
If you haven’t picked up on it yet, Babar Hair isn’t like most other salons. You won’t find any naff Taft hairspray lurking on the shelves, nor will you be subjected to spiral perms or other crimes against hair (unless of course, you want to be).
What you will find is a sunny, warm salon owned and run by someone who is seriously dedicated to the cause of creating next level hair for all clients, of all genders, and ages.
But wait there’s more! You’ll also find a vintage 1970’s record player (a treasured family heirloom), comfy couch, and gumball machine jam-packed with complimentary candy. If that’s not enough, you’ll also find a curated selection of magazines to rifle through, from glossy luxury titles full of things you could never afford to trashy weeklies high on the ‘guilty pleasure’ factor, we have all your reading needs well and truly covered!
We’ve also got wifi, an espresso coffee machine which cranks out café-quality lattes and some sneaky beer and wine which proves to be the perfect accompaniment to Friday night appointments (or Tuesday lunchtime if you’re that way inclined).
I know what you’re thinking: is this hair heaven? Well, we like to think it is but you should find out yourself and make an appointment. We’d love to see you.
And don’t forget to watch this space to see what’s going down at Babar, I’ll be updating snapshots of hair triumphs, fun times and other shenanigans.
Until then, stay amazing.
Betty, the Salon Cat xx
